It is one of the most incredible experiences I have had the pleasure of being involved with. It is a mountaintop experience ... one you try to keep re-living all year long, in heavy anticipation for the next years' event. Others find themselves drawn to register for more than one event each year. And there are still others who feel compelled to participate in every walk an organization offers. Whichever category you fall into, I can tell you that it changes you ... you become a better person, you raise awareness not only in those around you, but also within yourself. I remember when my mother was diagnosed in 1999 ... it was just terrible. Who wants that?? Who wants to have that in their lives?? While no one would choose to invite this disease into their lives ... my mother pointed out to me, 'Just look at what it has brought forth?? Look at all the good you, your friends and others are doing to fight for MY life and for the lives of other women.' She is right. God somehow knew that this family was the right family to give this challenge to. He knew that more good than bad would come out of it. And THAT feels good. 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' So, whether you are a veteran or registering for the first time or thinking about registering ... or just curious about this breast cancer walk phenomenon ...
