One of the things that we as expecting parents take for granted is that our babies will stay put until they are full term and can be born into a world where they can grow up living very healthy lives ... right from the beginning.
Is that too much to expect?
You prepare for the big event ... buy all the right things ... buy too many things ... buy cute, cuddly things ... paint the room a soft blue or pink color ... all in anticipation of the day you come home from the hospital with your new bundle of joy. But, then something happens and you deliver early with no warning (most premature births fall into this category) and then a couple of days later YOU are discharged from the hospital and are faced with coming home with flowers, baby gifts ... but your precious bundle of joy is still at the hospital in the NICU. A part of us is missing? The most important part of the last 7 months is still back at the hospital ... |
